Q: What is the Kreger Farmhouse?
A: The Kreger farmhouse was located at 26565 Scenic Drive along with
a shed and barn. It is now on the Franklin Village Green. The Kreger family occupied the house from
1918 to 2006.
Q: Why save the Kreger Farmhouse?
A: Built around 1860, the Kreger farmhouse is an excellent example
of Greek Revival farmhouses constructed when Franklin was primarily
a rural community.
Q: Where is it going to be moved to?
A: The house, shed and barn will be relocated to the Village Green
near the Broughton House.
Q: Why is it called the Kreger House?
A: Art and Cora Kreger moved into the house in
1918.
Q: When was the Kreger House built?
A: The house is believed to have been constructed about 1860, by either
Hamilton, or Lucius Miller, who owned the farm from 1848 until the
mid-1860s.
Q: Why not move it to the Franklin
Historical Society property on 13 Mile?
A: There are deed restrictions that prohibit the move of buildings
onto the FHS property.
